New Shoes!

Like most of us I love gear, the cool new stuff or the stuff that nobody else has. Needless to say when I got the chance to get on these cool looking Bont shoes, I was pretty enthusiastic. First thing we had to do was do a tracing of both our feet on a sheet of paper and measure each foot’s length and width before faxing the sheet to the experts at Bont. From there I still didn’t know what exactly to expect, especially when I looked up my size on the Bont shoe sizing chart and based on my measurement they had me at  around a size 38, normally I am 41.5 but I was comforted when Bont told me they haven’t changed their sizes since 1975 when most companies over the years change their sizes around. So when I got them I was quickly drawn to their flash design and upon closer inspection I noticed that one shoe was a size 7 and the other a 7.5 and the label “Hand Made”. This was the first time I actually had a shoe that was meant for each foot based on the measurement of each I sent them, pretty cool. I molded them up in the toaster oven, you can mold them as many times as needed until they feel just right, and in no time I was riding them and liking them as the feel very stiff and for the first time the cleats actually feel like they are in the right spot, which I attribute to have a shoe made for each foot so instead of have the cleat on the same spot on both shoe it is now on the same spot on each foot. I will be on these puppies for the next while until hopefully while I am down in Australia, which is where they are based, I can get on the cream of there crop in which they make a mold of you foot for maximum custom shoe experience.

Great shoes Christian. Did you know they make pink shoes too? Beautiful. And it almost spells ‘Bondt’ as in Geert Van Bondt my favorite Flemish bike racer.

  • Three words: carry on luggage
Totally PIMP! They’re so badass lookin’ you can wear ‘em to the disco when you hit Germany.
    Good luck Down Under buddy!

  • Make sure that you cover any varus tilt. Either have them build it in (not sure if they are that custom or not) or add wedges between cleat and shoe. If you need more, send us a note.

Happy New Year. Use it like it’s your last.;-)
