Going Custom..

The fine folks at Bont , who are based here on Sydney, came past our place here the other day to take my cycling shoe experience to the next level. I am lucky enough to be getting full custom cycling shoes, a first for me and probably many others, and they came by to cast my foot so my next pair of shoes should be about as perfect as it gets. It took a lot less time than I had anticipated and the process was simple. They start  by putting your foot in a clear plastic bag and the slip on a type of sock used to make foot casts when you have an injury. This sock slowly hardens when moisture is added, maybe not that slowly, like a couple minutes, and during this time the sock is getting massage to your foot so that it sets with all the curvatures of your foot and heal. Once it has hardened the cut down the front enough for you to slip you foot out and there you have it. They then ship this plaster to the factory where they then make a last, or model, of you foot around which they then build your shoe, all by hand of course. The end product should be a shoe that conforms directly to you foots contours, throw in some custom colors with some maple leafs and you have one snazzy pair of kicks. Now comes the hardest part, waiting for them to arrive. Full custom Bonts are available for anyone, the only limiting factor right now is getting your foot cast which is at the moment somewhat limited but I’m sure they can get you sorted somehow.
