epic ride following
Yesterday was a big day. 5 1/2 hours up two huge climbs, given ‘er in the 32 degree weather. I did not partake in this long intensive ride, but Christian, Dan Martin, and David Millar all decided to join up in collective motivation. Every once in awhile Allan Lim follows the riders in a car and is there for extra support, bottles, bars ad wheels. Since I had nothing on the scoop, I asked if I could join, and was pleasantly surprised at how amazing some of these climbs were. The boys did two climbs, Roca Corba and Mare a Deu (pictures below) Both climbs were steep, narrow and winded up through the forests. A map was needed to find our way to and from the climbs, but luckily Allan had some experience with this, and was quite a navigator. We stopped at a small cafe at the top of Mare a Deu and chatted about the effects of saunas and heat acclimatization, before topping up the bottles and continuing on the ride towards the Roca Corba which you could just see in the distance.
