Home, finally.
It’s been a long month on the road. Adelaide, Calpe and now finally home in Girona, hanging out on my couch relaxing. Had a nice salad for dinner, with all the fixing I like, apple, beets, balsamic reduction. Sleeping in a nice big bed tonight, no more of the single, roll over and you fall off beds. No place is ever quite as nice as home, it is where the heart is after all.
I did enjoy my time at the Tour Down Under, once again massive crowds and many of cycling’s superstars strutting their stuff and showing they had taken their winter season seriously. For me the form was better than the year previous after what was a more consistent winter of training with my trip to San Diego and better weather in BC, for the most part. We had a successful race putting Robbie Hunter in the top ten and getting us valuable Pro Tour points, meaning in the next big race we are car number 8 in the caravan.
From Adelaide I started my lonnngggg journey to team camp in the south of Spain. My trip took me to Melbourne, Bangkok, Frankfurt, Madrid and Valencia, about 40 hours of traveling but at the end of the day they did take good care of us sending us business class meaning I could get some sleep along the way. Our hotel in Calpe was quite something, right on the beach where we could watch the sunrise while we ate breakfast. Hard life I know.
Some great new sponsors on board for this season, Transistions being the biggest taking up second space on the jersey. Now having lenses that change tint with lighting conditions during the race is quite an advantage. No more taking off your glasses off during the race because the weather went from sunny to dark and rainy, easy peasy and in Oakley frames, does it get any better? We also switched wheels brands to Mavic for the season and they are doing some really cool stuff for us that will be out for everyone to see soon. On a personal level I have started working with the guys at Rivalus who are helping me with some solid supplements that are guaranteed to be safe for athletes . I am also in my second year of working with Bont shoes and they are going to be doing some crazy new shoes, 150 grams, nice! Keep you posted on those. For now it’s doing some final cleaning up before my Amber arrives tomorrow.
