Home Time
s we speak I am on a plane back to europe, I have been home in Canada now for just over a month in which time I have done Nationals, BC Superweek and some nice time with family, friends and the Sushi bar. After the my early season in europe a nice trip home to see friends and restock on my favourite Rivalus is very welcomed, living in Spain is a wonderful experience but once in awhile there are a couple things you tend to miss from back home, for me thats Sushi.
Sushi aside it was a busy time back home in BC with racing commitments as well as getting involved in some cancer foundation work. The cancer awareness came to me after I lost my brother to cancer almost one year ago, he was a young healthy man and it struck quickly and fiercely. Since then I have gotten involved with an organization called F*%#@ Cancer and their campaign to tech early detection methods to a young generation of people, over 90% of cancers are curable if they are caught in stage 1, that’s huge. Through huge support of fellow professional riders from various teams we were able to get together a great amount of signed jerseys that we have auctioned off in support of the cause. While at home in BC I raced a local series of races, BC Superweek, and in talking to the organizers as well as my Garmin-Transtions team I got permission to race this series in a special F Cancer jersey and we got a great response from the crowds and hopefully managed the spread the word. For now I am back on the racing scene in Europe and have the Tour of Poland coming up followed by some races in Italy and hopefully the Vuelta Espana(Tour of Spain) in September. All the best and train hard.
